Welcome to House of Printed Matter. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase of art prints and related products from us through our website or any other sales channel (collectively, our "Store").

By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

2. Orders and Payment

2.1 Placing Orders

When you place an order through our Store, you are making an offer to purchase products. We reserve the right to accept or decline your order for any reason, including but not limited to product availability, errors in pricing or product information, or suspected fraud.

2.2 Payment

Payment is required at the time of purchase. We accept payment methods as displayed at checkout on each platform.

2.3 Order Confirmation

You will receive an order confirmation email once your payment has been processed. This confirmation does not constitute acceptance of your order — acceptance occurs when we dispatch your items.

2.4 Pricing

We make every effort to ensure pricing accuracy, but errors may occur. If we discover a pricing error after you've placed an order, we will notify you and give you the option to either:

  • Proceed with the order at the correct price, or
  • Cancel the order for a full refund

We reserve the right to cancel orders affected by pricing errors.

3. Product Information

3.1 Print Sizes

Our prints are available in various sizes. Please carefully check the size you are ordering before completing your purchase. Product listings clearly state the dimensions of each print.

3.2 Colour Accuracy

We strive to display colours as accurately as possible. However, the colours you see on your screen may vary from the actual printed product due to differences in monitor settings, screen calibration, and printing processes. We cannot guarantee exact colour matching between digital images and physical prints.

3.3 Product Images

Lifestyle and room setting images are for illustrative purposes only. These images may show prints in sizes different from the specific size you are ordering. Always refer to the product title and description for the exact size and specifications of your order.

3.4 Print Quality

All prints are produced using high-quality printing techniques on premium paper stock. Minor variations in colour and finish are inherent to the printing process and do not constitute defects.

3.5 Frames

Unless explicitly stated in the product title and description, all prints are sold unframed. Images showing framed prints are for display purposes only.

4. Intellectual Property

4.1 Artwork Rights

House of Printed Matter holds the necessary rights or licenses to reproduce and sell all artwork offered in our Store. This includes:

  • Public domain works
  • Original designs created by House of Printed Matter

4.2 Your Rights

When you purchase a print from us, you receive:

  • One physical print for personal use
  • The right to display the print in your home or personal space

You do not receive:

  • Copyright ownership of the artwork
  • The right to reproduce, copy, or create derivatives of the print
  • The right to use the print for commercial purposes

4.3 Restrictions

You may not:

  • Reproduce or copy the print in any form
  • Resell the print commercially
  • Use the print for commercial purposes, advertising, or promotional materials
  • Digitally scan or photograph the print for reproduction or distribution

5. Shipping and Delivery

5.1 Processing Time

Orders are typically processed within 1-3 business days (Monday-Friday, excluding UK bank holidays). During busy periods, processing may take up to 5 business days.

5.2 Shipping Times

Estimated delivery times from dispatch:

  • UK: 2-5 business days
  • Europe: 5-10 business days
  • Rest of World: 10-21 business days

These are estimates only and not guarantees. Delays may occur due to customs processing, postal service disruptions, or other factors beyond our control.

5.3 Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your delivery location and order size.

5.4 International Orders

Important: For international orders, you (the buyer) are responsible for:

  • All import duties, customs fees, and taxes imposed by your country
  • Any additional charges levied by customs or delivery services
  • Understanding your country's import regulations

We have no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount. Refusal to pay customs charges or failure to collect a package will result in its return to us, and you will not be entitled to a refund of the purchase price or shipping costs. Some taxes may be paid at checkout depending on your location, but this is not always the case. Please double-check when ordering to avoid surprises on delivery.

5.5 Risk of Loss

Lost packages will be investigated by us at the earliest opportunity. Royal Mail, for example, require 15 working days to pass from dispatch in order to consider a package as “lost”. When a package is confirmed as lost, we will issue a replacement print.

5.6 Undeliverable Packages

If a package is returned to us as undeliverable due to an incorrect address provided by you, refusal of delivery, or failure to collect from a postal depot, you will be responsible for:

  • Original shipping costs (non-refundable)
  • Any return shipping costs incurred
  • New shipping costs if you wish to have the item re-sent

5.7 Track Your Order

Tracking information will be provided when available. Please check the tracking status before contacting us about delivery concerns.

6. Returns and Refunds

6.1 Return Period

You have 30 days from the date of delivery to return items for a refund, provided they meet our return conditions.

6.2 Eligible Returns

To be eligible for a return, items must be:

  • Defective or damaged
  • Not damaged by you or through misuse
  • Or an incorrect print was sent to you

6.3 Return Shipping

  • We are responsible for return shipping costs if the item meets the above criteria
  • We recommend using tracked shipping for returns, as we cannot be held responsible for items lost in return transit

6.4 Damaged or Defective Items

If you receive a damaged or defective item:

  1. Contact us ASAP with photos showing the damage or defect
  2. We will assess the issue and provide a resolution, which may include:
    • A replacement item at no cost
    • A full refund including original shipping costs
    • A partial refund if appropriate

6.5 Wrong Item Sent

If we send you the wrong item:

  • Contact us within 7 days of delivery
  • We will arrange for the correct item to be sent at no additional cost
  • We will provide a prepaid return label or refund your return shipping costs

6.6 Change of Mind Returns

We don’t offer change of mind returns.

6.7 Non-Returnable Items

The following cannot be returned:

  • Custom or personalised orders (if applicable)
  • Items marked as non-returnable in the product description
  • Items damaged through your misuse or improper storage

6.8 How to Initiate a Return

  • Your order number
  • Reason for return
  • Photos if applicable (damaged/defective items)

We will provide return instructions within 2 business days.

6.9 Refund Processing

Once we receive and inspect your return:

  • Approved refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days
  • Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
  • It may take additional time for your bank or payment provider to process the refund

7. Platform-Specific Terms

7.1 Multiple Sales Channels

House of Printed Matter sells through multiple platforms. When you purchase through these platforms:

  • These Terms apply in addition to the platform's own terms and conditions
  • In case of conflict between these Terms and platform terms, the platform terms take precedence for that specific transaction
  • Certain features (returns, disputes) may be governed by platform policies

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 Maximum Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from your purchase shall not exceed the amount you paid for the product(s) in question.

We are not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
  • Damage or discolouration to prints caused by improper framing, display, or storage
  • Damage caused by exposure to direct sunlight, moisture, or other environmental factors
  • Personal injury or property damage not directly caused by our negligence

8.3 Display Conditions

We are not responsible for fading, discolouration, or damage to prints resulting from:

  • Display in direct sunlight
  • Exposure to moisture or humidity
  • Use of non-UV protective glazing
  • Improper framing or mounting techniques

8.4 Nothing in these Terms shall limit our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded by law

9. Privacy and Data Protection

We collect and process personal data in accordance with UK data protection laws (UK GDPR). Please see our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your information.

By placing an order, you consent to us collecting and using your information for:

  • Order processing and fulfillment
  • Customer service communications
  • Shipping and delivery

10. Governing Law and Disputes

10.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

10.2 Dispute Resolution

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

13. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any specific terms on the platform where you make your purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and House of Printed Matter regarding your purchase.

14. Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
