A friend asked me if I could print a couple of works for him by William Thomas Horton (1864-1919). I had never heard of this artist, but I fell in love with his works immediately. Exclusively printed in black and white, I feel the apparent simplicity of Horton’s works defies the complexity of the subjects he explores within them.

I picked my favourites, upscaled and sharpened them for large format printing, and ran some test prints. These minimalist works truly come alive in print, practically leaping off the page. William T Horton received little fanfare during his lifetime, but it’s my hope that presenting these Horton works through House of Printed Matter will enable his art to receive a new lease of life, both here and in your space.
